The Friends of Colwood Parks hosts events in various parks and public spaces. Everyone is welcome, and training will be provided. At each event, we will be using different tools and techniques to remove invasive species and/or replant native plants and trees. Afterwards, you'll feel a tremendous sense of pride and accomplishment that you've done something amazing for your community.
When you join an event we will provide you with the tools you need. We ask that you:
Wear durable old clothes, long pants and long sleeves, closed toed sturdy shoes or boots
Bring you own gloves and eye protection
Bring water
With the help of a 6 foot root wrench we cleared over 170 square meters of Scotch Broom along the Painter trail.
We freed a tree being choked by Ivy and removed some nasty Himalayan Blackberry
We had a "Holly-Day" and removed 10 Holly bushes and over 3 cubic meters of invasives over a very large area
